Overview

The department of ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION engineering has been playing a vital role in producing scientists and technologists of highest caliber ever since it was established in the year 2007. The department runs ungraduate programmes  to cater to the ever challenging needs of technical excellence in all areas of ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION engineering such as Integrated electronics and circuits, Tele-communications, Computer technology, Control & Automation, Power systems & Power electronics .
In addition to the strong undergraduate programs, the department has been playing a pioneering role in producing world class postgraduates and research scholars. The infrastructure and lab facilities are upgraded from time to time and provide adequate opportunities for students and researchers to learn and innovate. The department has distinguished faculty, all holding Ph.D. degrees from renowned institutes in India and abroad. There are two Fellows of IEEE in the department and many other faculty members are Fellows of several national and international scientific bodies. The faculty of the department has been constantly carrying out research on many cutting edge technologies and regularly publishes in IEEE and other top international journals. The department also undertakes many research projects sponsored by both the government and the industry.
Course Objective

To Develop
  1. An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science and Engineering.
  2. An ability to design and conduct experiments as well as to analyze and interpret data.
  3. An ability to design a system , component or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability and sustainability.
  4. An ability to function on multidisciplinary teams.
  5. An ability to identify ,formulate , and solve electronics and communication engineering problems.
  6. An understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
  7. An ability to communicate effectively.
  8. The broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global ,economic, environmental and social context.
  9. A recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in life long learning
  10. A knowledge of contemporary issues.
  11. An ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for electronics and communication engineering practice.

Electronics & Communication Department Labs
The following well equipped laboratories containing state of the art equipments have been set up to enable the students to undergo the practical classes. All these laboratories are equipped with the latest models of equipments. The students make optimum use of these laboratories for their practical and project works. The latest versions of simulation software like SIMUCAD, XILINX, CADFEKO, Matlab, development kits. The students are given rigorous training in the design and implementation of circuits and systems using MATLAB and they use for the design, analysis and simulation of complex electronic circuits required for their project work. The circuits simulated can then be fabricated quite effectively on the printed circuit boards in the Project Lab

DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING


1. Electronics Devices and Circuits Lab
             3. Digital Circuits Lab  
This Lab includes Electronics Circuit, Electronics Devices and Design Laboratory. This Lab consists of all types of measuring instruments and cathode ray oscilloscope, Power Supply, Multimeters, function generators and various types of Experiment Kits. This Laboratory is specially designed to enhance the capabilities of the students for designing basic analog circuits like oscillators, multivibrators, amplifiers, drivers etc.
2. Communication Lab
The experiments in this laboratory enable the students’ to gather basic knowledge on communication systems. Here they can perform different experiments which are the fundamental blocks of any communication system used now-a-days. The experiments include study of AM, FM, ASK, FSK, PSK, PAM, PWM, TDM, FDM etc. They also learn how to design Analog to Digital Converter, Digital to Analog Converter. Advance Communication Lab Comprises of Data Communication Trainer, LAN Trainer, Advance controller network trainer, PDLA Software, ISDN training system, CDMA trainer.

Introduction to the vast world of digital electronics is given in this laboratory. It can support different experiments using discrete components and ICs, which are commonly used in industries and laboratories.

4. Microprocessor systems Lab
Microprocessor Systems Laboratory is well equipped to do all experiments in 8085 and 8086. 8051 microcontroller trainers and EPROM programmer are provided for carrying out projects.   In this laboratory students get their first exposure on the programming of basic microprocessor like 8085. They also perform different application programming such as interfacing many peripheral elements like display, Stepper motor controller etc. A huge scope of project work lies in this laboratory. 
 
5. Microwave & Antenna Lab    6. Digital Signal Processing Lab
Microwave Test Benches operating in the X band with all the associated components and with facility to conduct experiments using Gunn Oscillator and Klystron Oscillator Sources enable the students to carry out a variety of experiments. A full fledged set up with X- band antenna and turn table provide facilities to carry out radiation pattern measurements. CADFEKO software for microwave and antenna lab .It also includes some microwave experiments like VSWR measurement and study on Horn antenna.



The DSP Laboratory helps the students to have an idea in processor programming and also to implement the logic codes. The laboratory has about 30 systems with MATLAB software, DSP trainer and processor kits. The laboratory is fully conditioned with processor simulating tools.  
 

7. Communication Networks and Transmission Lines Lab

Network Laboratory helps the students to study and analyze the behavior of various network nodes, links, stub and impedance matching etc. Students can also perform the experiments on phase and angle displacement, VSWR measurement, behavior of Transmission lines, Fault localization and various types of filters.

8. Instrumentation and Measurement Lab  

Objective of this laboratory is to make the students conversant with the Industrial instruments, which are used to measure & control the basic parameters like temperature, pressure, flow, level moisture etc. The students are taught about how the Instruments are calibrated, maintained through different experimental set-ups. This laboratory familiarizes the students with different characteristics (Static & Dynamic) of instruments.

9. VLSI and Software lab 
Software such as MATLAB, XILINX are taught to the students in this lab to enable them to design, analyze & simulate and even compare with industry. SIMUCAD Tools for design digital, analog and mixed VLSI circuits. FPGA SPARTAN-3 trainer and CPLD proto board to perform various experiments of the curriculum.

10. Basic Electronics Lab
This Laboratory is meant for enhancement of fundamental ideas about the basic electronic circuits and components. It can support different experiments on diodes, transistors, FETs, amplifiers, OP-AMPs and various other experiments also.


11. Project Lab

             


This Laboratory comprises of designing and Simulation Software, PROTO- ETCH Etching machine, PCB Drilling machine, PCB Sheering Machine, IC tester, different types of Analog and Digital ICs and various electronic components to implement student’s ideas. This Laboratory can also support many experiments and new ideas which are evolved in the mind of students. Student learns all aspects of Design, implementation, fabrication and simulation of engineering. This has been found to give immense practical utility to the students in their future career.
